Shenandoah National Park Fall Engagement | Luray, VA | Jocelyn and Seth

Jocelyn and Seth timed their Shenandoah National Park engagement pictures just in time to get the peak fall leaves! The colors up there are always gorgeous. When we arrived at the first overlook though, the fog was so thick. This is something I’ve come to expect with engagement sessions in Shenandoah - you just never know what the weather is going to be like. The weather outside the park can be completely different than what you experience up on Skyline Drive! But I knew this outdoorsy couple was going to have no problem just rolling with it.

I was a little bummed that they wouldn’t get to see those stunning mountain views, but thankfully luck was on our side a little later in the session!

If you’re planning your own engagement photos in Shenandoah, be sure to read all my tips and tricks about Shenandoah engagement photography!

We had a couple of cute photo bombers.

A few minutes down Skyline Drive we found much clearer skies! And our timing was absolutely PERFECT. As we drove past this overlook again at the end of the session, this one was covered in fog too!

I love how their outfits look with the fall colors!

See, I told you these two were adventurous. No worries from either of them about lifting Jocelyn up while close to the edge of a cliff. (Don’t worry, it’s not actually THAT steep of a drop off beyond the rocks haha.)

Seth made this look easy, but the incline he’s walking up while carrying Jocelyn is steeper than it looks. All that working out pays off!

Love their sweet smiles in this one ❤️️

Then we started the hike down the trail to Dark Hollow Falls!

Dark Hollow Falls is a pretty popular hike, because it’s short and who doesn’t love waterfalls? So there were quite a few other people at the falls when we got there. But Jocelyn and Seth were up for the challenge of scrambling across wet rocks to get to the other side of the stream! We had that side completely to ourselves, and therefore no tourists present in the back of their photos haha.

Again these two were on point with the outfit choices. They were the perfect pop of color next to the misty backdrop and fall leaves!

Can’t wait for their wedding next year at 48 Fields!
