Cherry Blossom National Mall Wedding | Washington, DC | Cat and Warren

When planning a spring wedding at the National Mall, there’s always a chance that you will time it just right to get peak cherry blossoms. And Cat and Warren managed to do just that! Peak bloom was actually predicated to be a week later, but warm weather meant the blossoms came early, just in time for their wedding day.

Cat and Warren had an intimate wedding ceremony at the DC War Memorial, followed by plenty of time for portraits all over the National Mall. They got photos with the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin, and pictures at the Reflecting Pool and Lincoln Memorial too. And they finished up their evening back home with a pizza and champagne reception!

These two planned their wedding day with COVID safety in mind - Cat’s a doctor and of course both she and Warren wanted to do everything they could to keep their families safe while also celebrating their big day. The space at the DC War Memorial was a perfect setup for a socially distanced ceremony.

How gorgeous are these flowers from Petal’s Edge? I love brightly colored bouquets, especially with the white marble of the memorials at the National Mall.

After the ceremony, we made the short walk across Independence Avenue to the Tidal Basin and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. And we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t too busy! I think the combination of the National Park Service blocking off nearby parking and the fact that people weren’t expecting the cherry blossoms to bloom so quickly worked in our favor.

These two were just naturals with every pose I put them in. I love how sweet they are together!

Our next stop was the Reflecting Pool. Surprisingly, I think this area (along with the Lincoln) was more crowded than the Tidal Basin! But part of the fun of getting married at the National Mall is all of the attention - so many people walking by (or riding Segways haha) shouted their congratulations to the happy couple!
