Khimaira Farm Wedding Photos | Luray, VA | Renee and Caleb

Renee and Caleb’s summer wedding at Khimaira Farm was one of my favorites last year! We did their engagement photos out in Shenandoah National Park, and were all so excited to go back out to the Blue Ridge Mountains for their big day.

So these two didn’t just have a pandemic to deal with, they also had a forecast that all wedding couples fear. It not only rained on their wedding day, it poured. Like all day, total downpour, didn’t let up for even a minute. But Renee and Caleb are the perfect example of how to have an amazing wedding day despite a little bit of bad weather.

If you talked to either of them at any point in the day, you would have had no idea anything wasn’t going according to plan. Their giant smiles and positive attitudes were contagious - they were so happy to be getting married and celebrating with their loved ones. A minor detail like the weather was just a little blip on their radar, and not going to affect them having the best day ever.

When I asked what their thoughts were on taking photos outside, there was no hesitation at all. Their response was “This is peak 2020 - let’s go outside!” So we grabbed the umbrellas and went out to play in the rain. Of course this adventurous couple was up for it! We had actually rescheduled their engagement photos multiple times due to rainy forecasts, so I think it was just fate that they were destined to get some pictures in the rain!

Totally unfazed by the rain!

I loved the detail on the back of Renee’s dress ❤️️❤️️❤️️

It wasn’t just Caleb and Renee who were ready for some photos in the rain - their whole wedding party was game too! And the dusty blue and green color combo with mix and match dresses looked amazing.

Never did I ever imagine that one of the things I’d be raving about a venue was their ventilation haha, but here we are. I loved that Khimaira Farm’s events barn opened up to the outdoors on all four sides of the room! The length of the building was wide open on both sides, providing perfect protection from the rain while allowing everyone to feel a little safer in terms of airflow.

Their ceremony was officiated by a friend, and was the perfect mix of sweetness and laughter.

I still can’t get over their décor. Everything looked amazing!

Renee’s dad knows how to boogie!

They ended the night with a fun, masked dance floor, complete with cardboard cutouts of guests who couldn’t be there. So glad I got to be a part of the celebration!
