Golden Gate Canyon State Park Engagement | Golden, Colorado | Jennifer and Rigel

If you are ever in Colorado in the fall, you definitely need to check out Golden Gate Canyon State Park! Jennifer and Rigel could not have picked a better place for their engagement photos. We lucked out with an absolutely gorgeous day during peak fall colors, and the trail we were on was full of beautiful, bright yellow aspens!

Jennifer and I went to high school together, but we figured it had been probably 14 YEARS since we’d last seen each other. So crazy! Thanks to Facebook, I knew that she was living in the Denver area so I reached out before my Colorado trip. I’m incredibly thankful that photography has helped me reconnect with so many old friends! (Also thankful that Facebook keeps me in the loop about friends’ lives even if we don’t really talk anymore haha.)

Jennifer is a teacher and Rigel is a soon-to-be nurse, but they actually met while they were both working at the Cheesecake Factory in Denver! They love going to music festivals together, and Rigel proposed while they were hiking at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival a few months ago. It’s so perfect that they wanted to hike again for their engagement pictures!

After our hike, we went back to Rigel’s house where Jennifer and I had beers on the couch while Rigel cooked us a DELICIOUS dinner. Best way ever to end a photoshoot, right?

It was at this point in our session that Jennifer and Rigel let me know that they’ve been taking swing dancing lessons. Not specifically for the wedding, just because. So of course we had to capture some of their sweet moves!
