Mamie and Nick’s Washington National Cathedral wedding is featured today, with a special appearance from their dog Sandy! You know I’m all about the wedding dogs haha. These two decided to self-officiate their elopement in the Bishop’s Garden, with the National Cathedral as their backdrop. It was an absolutely gorgeous setting for a wedding!

Initially, Mamie and Nick booked me for engagement photos in the spring. But when the pandemic postponed those plans, they decided they’d rather just elope instead! Elopements are common in Mamie’s family, so a small wedding was always something they’d considered doing.

The threat of storms was in the forecast that day, but we ended up with a beautiful morning. The mix of sunshine and clouds provided perfect lighting for photos!

Since their friends and family weren’t there in person, Mamie and Nick found a special way to include them in their wedding day. Their parents, maid of honor, and best man all wrote them letters that they read during their ceremony! It was such a sweet idea, and a great way to incorporate the important people in their lives into their wedding.

The Dog of Honor - prepping for his walk down the aisle! Mamie and Nick’s neighbors (and quarantine buddies) came along to help Sandy with his important role of cutest ring bearer/flower dog ever.

After the ceremony, we had tons of time to wander the gardens for pictures. The stunning photo spots were endless!

After photos around the National Cathedral, Mamie and Nick had a mini-reception back home at their apartment complex with their neighbors - complete with cake cutting and champagne! These two planned the perfect elopement and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it. ❤️️❤️️❤️️
