Best Wedding Venues in Shenandoah

There’s nothing like getting married in the mountains, and Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley has so many great wedding venues to choose from! Whether you’re looking for something intimate or planning to host a giant dance party with 200 of your best friends, you’ll find plenty of options in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s the perfect place for outdoorsy couples to celebrate and enjoy all the beauty that Mother Nature has to offer. Your guests will love the mountain scenery, and hopefully make a weekend of it while enjoying things like hiking trips to Shenandoah National Park, tubing down the Shenandoah River, and exploring Luray Caverns!

While price estimates are included here, I always recommend reaching out to the venues directly to get the most up-to-date pricing and what their packages currently include.

Stover Hall

Luray, VA

Stover Hall is the perfect blend of rustic elegance for a Shenandoah Valley wedding! The eight acre property has some of the best views in Luray, and the mountains are the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony. The climate-controlled red event barn fits up to 200 guests, and a wall of windows provides that beautiful Blue Ridge scenery even when you’re indoors. You can also book the manor house and cottage to stay the weekend with up to 14 guests, host your rehearsal dinner on-site, and have access to the inground swimming pool! Stover Hall’s wedding packages range from $6000 - $10,500.

Shenandoah Woods

Stanley, VA

Shenandoah Woods is a great venue choice if you’re planning a full weekend getaway with your guests! Your wedding reservation at Shenandoah Woods gives you access to the grounds from Friday - Sunday, and with tons of log cabins available for you and your guests to stay, you can keep the party going all weekend! There are two ceremony locations to choose from - either right in front of the reception site or a short walk away at the chapel in the woods. The open-air pavilion fits up to 200 guests and allows everyone to take in that stunning mountain scenery throughout the entire reception! Other fun additions they have available include lawn games, a “brew canoe,” fire pit, and access to the nearby Willow Pond. Their basic wedding package is $10,500.

Shawnee Farms Estate

Luray, VA

Set on 150 acres in Luray, Shawnee Farms Estate has views for days! Not only does it have the mountains of Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest, but there are also rolling fields and formal gardens to give you plenty of beautiful spots for photos. The historic house can sleep 16 guests, and the reception barn can hold up to 150 guests. They also partner with Luray Caverns if you want to hold your ceremony in the caverns! Wedding packages range from $8500 - $11,000.

Massanutten Creek

Luray, VA

Massanutten Creek is one of Luray’s newest wedding venues! With gorgeous views overlooking the Massanutten and Blue Ridge Mountains, the scenery is hard to beat. The red barn can hold up to 200 guests for indoor receptions, and the historic house on the property is the perfect place for getting ready before your big day. When choosing your wedding date, definitely ask them about the best times for their giant sunflower field to be blooming!

Stoneyman Valley Ranch

Luray, VA

Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, Stoneyman Valley Ranch is a working cattle farm with some amazing views of the Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains. There are a couple locations you can use for your ceremony site, and you can’t go wrong with beauty in every direction! Between the mountain vistas and the pond and historic barn, there are lots of options for photos! The heated/air conditioned reception barn is temperature controlled year-round and comfortably fits 200 guests. Make sure to plan time in your evening for a ride in the golf cart up the hill for some photos with beautiful sunset views! Reservations at Stoneyman Valley Ranch give you access to the property on both Friday and Saturday, and their two-day wedding packages range from $6450 - $7850 depending on number of guests.

Lydia Mountain Lodge and Log Cabins

Stanardsville, VA

Lydia Mountain Lodge and Log Cabins is the perfect venue if your wedding dreams involve a weekend getaway in the woods! Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the views at Lydia Mountain are absolutely stunning. With four different venues (even a small chapel!) and space for 200 guests, there’s something for everyone. There are over 30 log cabins and 10 rooms at the lodge, so your weddings guests can stay right on the property and enjoy the trails and campfires. They offer a wide range of packages from $1000 elopements to $18,075 full packages that include catering and 10 rooms at the lodge.

Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park itself offers multiple options for wedding day celebrations! There are two main venues in the park at Skyland and Big Meadows Lodge, which can seat up to 100 and 64 guests respectively. Multiple ceremony sites are available between an amphitheater in the woods or a lawn or terrace overlooking the valley. Cabins in Skyland or rooms in Big Meadows Lodge are perfect accommodations for your guests to spend the weekend! Rental prices range from $1250 - $4000.

Smaller wedding ceremonies or elopements with up to 15 guests and no setup can actually be done at any time and place in the park! The exception being on fall weekends, where any ceremonies at overlooks must be completed before 10am (due to the large crowds of park visitors). If you want to include decor or chairs you do need to apply for a special use permit, and it’s always a good idea to check in with the park even if your event does not require a permit - just to ensure no other event is planned in the time and space you’re hoping to use.

I’ve got another blog post with all my advice about weddings and elopements in Shenandoah National Park to help with your planning and getting the most out of those gorgeous views!

Lake Arrowhead

Luray, VA

If you’re planning an elopement or very low-key wedding day, Lake Arrowhead might be a great choice and is super cost effective. With beautiful scenery and beach access, it’s a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding ceremony. While it doesn’t offer the privacy of the other venues, if you’re up for a laid back picnic vibe this is the place. There are six picnic shelters available to rent that can seat 30-100 people and prices range from $35-$45 with a $100 security deposit. An elopement with just the two of you and your officiant would likely have no fees or permits required! But always call to double check that the park isn’t being utilized for another large event at the time you plan to elope.

Khimaira Farm

Luray, VA

As of early 2024 Khimaira Farm is still on hiatus and not taking new bookings, but hopefully they will return some day!

Khimaira Farm is a working dairy goat farm located in Luray. Not only are there stunning mountain vistas, but the venue features beautiful gardens and a gazebo as well. The rustic reception barn seats up to 200 guests and includes beautiful wooden farm tables. They also have a huge collection of rustic decor (lanterns, signs, mirrors, candle holders, string lights, etc) available to make your decorating easy! The basic wedding package is $5900.
