Northern Virginia Wedding Photography

Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important wedding planning decisions you have to make. It’s important to find a photographer whose personality fits with yours and who is going to make photography a fun part of your big day and not an obligation. Your wedding day is going to be amazing and filled with so many great moments. You’ve got people to see, cake to cut, and cha-chas to slide. And all of those things are WAY more important and memorable than striking the prom pose a million times in front of a camera.

That’s why I work with all of my couples to figure out the best wedding day timeline for FUN, while also setting aside the right amount of time to get those more formal photos too. You don’t want to miss your entire cocktail hour (and that delicious bang bang shrimp) and I don’t want you to miss it either!

And as far as those formal photos go, don’t worry - they are posed in the sense that I’ll be giving you some guidance, but you won’t ACTUALLY be doing the prom pose a million times. I pride myself on being a candid photographer, so I’ll have you walking and laughing and looking natural in your wedding photos!

Average wedding investment: $6000 (8 hours, engagement session, second photographer)

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your prices?
Clients typically spend $6000+ on full day wedding coverage with a second photographer and an engagement session. Contact me for all of my collection details!

Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?
Absolutely. Love is love and I’m a member of the community myself! 🏳️‍🌈

Do you photograph small weddings or elopements?
Yes, these are some of my favorite types of weddings to shoot. If you’re looking for fewer than 6 hours of coverage, I have a lot more availability for these on weekdays, but depending on the date I can sometimes photograph shorter days on weekends too. Ask me about my availability and for a customized quote!

Do you travel?
Absolutely! I’m based in Bristow, Virginia so my typical clients are in Northern Virginia, DC, Charlottesville, and Richmond... as well as my hometown of Rochester, NY. But I’ve traveled all over the country for weddings!

How many photos will we get?
It’s hard to give an exact number because every wedding is different! But I typically deliver 50-100 photos per hour.

How do we know if you’re the right photographer for us?
I’ve got an entire blog post dedicated to answering this for you! Check out this blog with my Top 5 Things to Consider When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer.

Do we get digital files?
All of my wedding collections include the high-resolution digital files delivered in an online gallery. You’re able to order high quality professional prints right through the gallery, but you’ll also have a personal print release so you are welcome to print the photos wherever you’d like.

How many hours of wedding day coverage do we need?
For the majority of my clients, 8-10 hours is ideal. Do you want lots of photographic evidence of your friends on the dance floor? Then make sure your photographer is there til the end of the night. Don’t care about getting pictures of your hair and makeup being done? Maybe a shorter timeframe will work for you. I’m happy to talk through potential timelines to figure out what is best for your day!

When will we receive the finished photos?
My turnaround for full wedding galleries is usually 6-8 weeks, but I always like to give some sneak peeks within a week!

Do you have backup gear?
Tons of it. For the majority of a wedding day I carry two cameras on me (with a super sweet Batman-esque utility belt), and I also bring multiple lenses, flashes, batteries, memory cards…. You name it, I’ve got several of it.

Do you have liability insurance?
Of course! I’m happy to provide proof of coverage to your venue if they need it.

Can you Photoshop Uncle Bob/my dog/a dinosaur into the pictures?
Basic editing (of things like color and exposure) is always included for wedding photos. Generally I strive to capture the day as it happened, but if you’d like any more detailed edits (such as adding people/things to the photos that weren’t there) just ask about my retouching fees!

Will you hold my date?
Once a contract is signed and retainer paid, your date is officially reserved!

Who will be our second photographer?
My second shooters are all professional photographers who run their own businesses. I only work with photographers who I trust to provide the same quality of service that I do!

Do you have recommendations for other wedding vendors?
Absolutely. I’ve got blog posts dedicated to my favorite florists, hair and makeup artists, DJs, and bridal shops
