Best Northern Virginia Wedding Venues

Best wedding venues in Northern Virginia | Virginia winery mural

Finding the best Northern Virginia wedding venue is the first step on your wedding planning adventure. There are so many options to choose from - wineries, historic manors, hotels, country clubs - it can definitely be overwhelming!

The first thing you need to do is decide what your priorities are for your wedding day. Do you need beautiful scenery? Convenience for your out-of-town guests? A giant dance floor area because your friends and family are going to get wild during the reception? Figure out what’s most important to YOU, and it will streamline your venue search!

But before scheduling a million venue visits, start your research online. There’s two important things you need to do:

  • Look at pictures. I know this is obvious, but there’s several different ways to find photos of the venues you’re considering. You can start on the venue’s website, but I highly recommend searching for photographers’ blog posts that will typically show how a wedding day looks at the venue from start to finish. Pinterest is another great source for wedding photos, as well as searching the Google business profile of the venue. When you search for a venue on Google, a little box pops up with directions, reviews, and also photos! Click there to see not only pictures the venue has uploaded themselves, but also photos from wedding couples and their guests.

  • Read reviews. Check out Google, WeddingWire, The Knot, and Facebook for feedback from previous couples who have gotten married at the venue. Obviously, the more 5-star reviews the better!

So in no particular order, here’s my list of best wedding venues in Northern Virginia:

The winery also has multiple indoor options for ceremonies and receptions - between the Barrel Room, Tasting Room, and Production Barn, you’re sure to find a space that’s right for your party. This venue can host seated receptions up to 200 guests.

The Westin Washington Dulles is one of my favorite hotel venues in Northern Virginia. One of the larger venues, the Westin can hold receptions up to 500 guests. The outdoor ceremony option overlooks a pond surrounded by trees, and the nearby stone bridge is a great spot for photos. The hotel is also close to Dulles airport, making it super convenient if you have a lot of guests flying in for the wedding.

The ballroom is massive (obviously, it can fit 500 people!), but it’s great even for smaller weddings because there’s plenty of room for guest tables to be spread out, and for a giant dance floor! And make sure you get uplighting for your reception! Adding brightly colored lighting will turn the neutral room into a fun dance party.
